Mercedes-Benz has teased an image of the latest addition to its top-of-the-line S-Class range, the S-Class Cabriolet. To the surprise, the luxury cabriolet will be making its global debut along with the 2016 C-Class Coupe at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA).
The S-Class Cabriolet will carry forward the tradition of the drop-top S-Class model series 111 and 112 sold from 1961 to 1971. The German automaker says that the luxury cabriolet will feature a distinctive and unique design and have usage of high-class materials and state-of-the-art technology.
The styling of the S-Class Cabriolet has been designed to exude a sense of understated luxury while keeping the overall design stylish and modern. The front of the car will resemble the S-Class Coupe while the rear will feature an extended boot to accommodate the folding roof.
The company intends to build the ‘most comfortable’ cabriolet with the interiors featuring a range of amenities. The interiors will be similar to the S-Class Coupe optimised to cope with the necessities of the folding roof. To increase passenger comfort Mercedes will be offering AIRCAP, an automatic wind protection system. It will also be offering AIRSCARF, which is a neck-level heating system for the occupants. Other features include ‘intelligent’ fully automatic climate control system, front and rear heated seats and heated armrests amongst others.
Ola Kallenius, Board Member of Daimler AG, Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales stated the after 44 years the company will again offer consumers an open-top variant of the S‑Class. He went on to add that the new S-Class Cabriolet will showcase the carmaker’s passion for exclusive and timeless mobility.
