Mysterious Jaguar XE “e” spotted

March 29, 2015

A fully undisguised Jaguar XE stuck with a light blue circular “E” badge, has been spied testing in Spain. No exhaust pipes are visible in the spy shots which might make one think that it is an all-electric car but that is not the case. We checked the car’s UK registration plates and turns out, the test mule which was registered in December 2014 is powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine.

There are two possibilities of the mystery behind this test mule. It could be a prototype electric, hybrid or plug-in hybrid version of the XE saloon in its initial phase of development. Or, it could be a diesel-powered car running on a modified powertrain.
