The BMW X5’s entry-price has been lowered in Netherlands with announcement of two new models – sDrive25d and xDrive25d. Till now, the X5 was available in the country with only with a four-wheel drive layout or what is branded in BMW’s terminology as ‘xDrive’, but now, a rear-wheel drive model is also available – sDrive25d. The xDrive25d features all-wheel drive layout. The new entry-level models should follow later to more European markets, or at least the Asian markets including China.
The X5 sDrive25d is powered by a 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces 170 kW (231 hp) and 500 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include 8-speed automatic and 8-speed Sport automatic. The X5 sDrive25d can reach 0-100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 220 km/h. Fuel economy and CO2 emissions figures are rated at 18.87 km/l and 139 g/km respectively.
The X5 xDrive25d is also powered by the 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces 170 kW (231 hp) and 500 Nm of torque. It can be had with either an 8-speed automatic transmission or an 8-speed Sport automatic transmission. The 0-100 km/h and top speed figures also remain the same, 7.7 seconds and 220 km/h respectively. The four-wheel drive layout results in a reduction in fuel economy figure – 17.86 km/l, and an increase in CO2 emissions figure – 146 g/km.
