BMW has opened the first BMW i dealership in New Zealand to expand the worldwide availability of its i range of vehicles. BMW said that they’ve had the i8 on display in the country for two weeks and received a very good response for the vehicle everywhere.
Along with the inauguration of the new dealership, the company also revealed the pricing for its i3 and i8 electric cars. The i3 will have a driveaway price from $83,500 and feature a small 2-cylinder 650cc range extender fitted as standard which offers a range of around 340 km. The i3 can do 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds.
The i8 is priced from $278,000 and is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that produces a peak power of 231 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to an electric motor that outputs 129 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Overall, the power output stands at 362 bhp, and gives the car a range of approximately 600km. The i8 can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 4.4 seconds.
