Peugeot 308 GTi revealed ahead of Goodwood show debut

The Peugeot 308 GTi has been officially revealed ahead of its debut at the Goodwood Moving Motor Show and Festival of Speed, to be held from 25th – 28th June.

Two GTi models will be available – GTi 250 and GTi 270. Under the hood, there’s a 1.6-litre THP Stop&Start (S&S) four-cylinder petrol engine developed by in-house performance division Peugeot Sport. The turbocharged mill dishes out 250 hp on the GTi 250 and 270 hp on the GTi 270. Torque figure of 330 Nm remains the same for both models, and so does a 6-speed manual transmission that sends power to the front wheels.

The GTi 250 can complete the 0-100 km/h speed run in 6.0 seconds, while the GTi 270 does the same in 6.2 seconds. Top speed remains electronically limited at 155 mph (250 km/h) for both.

Unique visual features on the outside include a new black upper and lower grille with a horizontal chequered pattern and gloss-black finishing, addition of a lip spoiler, circular dual exhaust pipes and addition of a rear diffuser. The GTi sits 11 mm lower than the GT.

The high performance variant offers more grip with a wider track of 1,570 mm at the front and 1,544 mm at the rear. The GTi 250 gets 18-inch ‘Diamant’ alloy wheels wrapped under 225/40 R18 92W Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres, while the GTi 270 gets 19-inch ‘Carbone’ light-weight alloy wheels wrapped under Michelin Super Sport 235/35 R19 91Y tyres, which boast 380 mm front discs grabbed by red four-piston calipers bearing ‘Peugeot Sport’ signature. The GTi 270 features Torsen® limited-slip differential exclusively.

The standard Driver Sport Pack includes a Sport button on the centre console, pressing which, the display changes from white to red and shows performance information including power, torque, boost, lateral and longitudinal acceleration stats on the central read-out.
