The Peugeot 308 R HYbrid that debuted at the 2015 Auto Shanghai is a very interesting concept car pumped up with a 500-hp hybrid powertrain. The highly anticipated extreme hatchback’s interior hasn’t been detailed completely by the company so far, but here’s a walkthrough video of the concept by Planete-gt.com that fully previews the exterior and interior up-close.
The video also includes an interview with Gilles Vidal, Director of Design at PSA Peugeot Citroen.
The 308 R HYbrid concept’s powertrain packs the 1.6-litre THP 270 S&S petrol engine borrowed from the RCZ R coupe, and two electric motors mounted at the rear. Each electric motor produces 85 kW (115 hp). The front one is linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the rear one can be used to power the rear wheels in pure electric mode.
Combined, the hybrid system makes a psychotic 500 hp and 730 Nm of torque, that too, while maintaining the CO2 emissions figure at just 70 g/km. It allows the car to reach 0 to 62 mph in 4 seconds flat and hit an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
