Under the attention of the Circuit de Barcelona paddock and a worldwide audience via Radical TV’s live streaming, Technical Director Phil Abbott and Sir Chris Hoy pulled the wraps off the new SR3 RSX this evening, as well as giving a sneak preview of the new-for-2015 SR8 RSX.

The dramatic styling of the new SR3 RSX impressed the audience as Abbott talked around the many new features and benefits. Most obvious was the aggressively-styled, LED-illuminated nose and new high-downforce front diffuser with a ‘double tunnel’ profile. The rear also features LED lighting with an open-deck tail and redesigned diffuser for even higher levels of grip.

Under the skin the SR3 RSX is powered by the latest iteration of the RPE Generation 3 engine, with a larger-bore exhaust, bigger throttle bodies and revised mapping resulting in better-than-ever power and torque delivery. For the first time the SR3 RSX features a hardline braking system as standard, as well as the new AIM MXL2 LCD dash.

Abbott also showed off advanced designs for the new SR8 RSX, due for release in early 2015. The SR8 RSX takes Radical’s flagship racing concept even further with a larger platform for greater stability and grip, and a 3.0-litre variant of RPE’s acclaimed RP-V8 engine with more power than the current SR8. The car features a seven-speed gearbox as standard and a host of endurance racing options.
