It was reported earlier this month and even in May that the Renault Kadjar RS is under consideration. Kadjar Project Manager for Europe, Vincent Geslin, revealed that the French automaker is indeed looking into possibilities of such variants for the future with Europe and China being the main target markets.
Now a near to possible rendering from Auto-Moto previews how the high performance variant of the new compact crossover could look like. The standard variant went on sale in the company’s home market on the 1st of this month and is yet to go on sale in many other European and global markets. So realistically speaking, the RenaultSport variant is, if approved, still very far from launch.
The production approval would depend on factors such as, feasibility of building the RS model alongside the standard one, possibility of performance tuning within a small budget, and potential market demand for such variant.
Another big wall facing the approval is that such a variant may cannibalize sales of the very first Alpine crossover which would likely be a performance model. Renault will be investing €600 Million for the resurrection of the iconic brand and it wouldn’t want internal cannibalization in the brand’s initial comeback stage.
