The Renault Kadjar went on sale in France on the 1st of June, and is yet to go on sale in other European and global markets. Despite that, Renault is already considering a high-performance model of the compact crossover.
According to a fresh report from AutoExpress, Kadjar Project Manager for Europe – Vincent Geslin, said that the company is looking into the RenaultSport Kadjar for the future as it would help the brand grow not only in Europe, but also in China – a hot market for crossovers.
Three areas need to be investigated by the performance division to introduce the Kadjar RS, as per a previous report – a) feasibility of building the RS model alongside the standard one, b) possibility of making performance changes within a reasonable budget and c) customer appeal for such models.
The Kadjar RS, built by in-house performance motorsport, performance and special vehicles division Renault Sport, would share internals with another rumored product – the Nissan Qashqai NISMO. Apart from a more powerful engine, the Kadjar RS can be expected with sportier styling, aerodynamic elements, chassis upgrades, stiffer suspension and bigger brakes.
If Renault green lights the production of the model, expect a launch in 2017.
