Richard Petty’s Garage rolls out limited edition Mustang GT King

Richard “The King” Petty, the legendary seven-time NASCAR champion has partnered with Ford to make Ford Mustang GT King edition. The Ford Mustang GT King edition will be available in three models – King, King Premier and King Premier convertible.

Petty’s Garage will be modifying the Mustangs that can be ordered through Ford dealerships. In all, 243 King models, 43 King Premier models and 14 King Premier convertibles will be built. Modifications include custom engine calibration, cold air intake, MagnaFlow exhaust and a supercharger adding 235 hp for a total output of 670 hp. Extreme-duty TrakPak Ford Performance halfshafts, three-way adjustable front and rear sway bars, and a rear axle upgrade round off the mechanical alterations.

Visual changes come in the form of HRE 20-inch wheels wrapped in Continental Extreme Performance summer tires, custom rear diffuser, center-mounted exhaust and rear spoiler. On the inside, there is custom shift knob, sill plates, floor mats, embroidered head restraints and a special dash plate signed by Richard Petty.

The King Premier edition features the Petty’s Garage/BASF custom tri-colour stripe package over the Petty Blue paint scheme alongwith the red and white stripes, and a custom leather interior. This edition also gets redesigned wheels and a brake upgrade kit that includes six piston and four piston calipers at the front and rear respectively biting on two-piece rotors.

For those looking opt for more performance, there is a coil-over racing suspension, different wheel bushings to minimize wheel hop and upgraded supercharger that takes output to a formidable 727 hp. The suggested retail prices are US$67,495 for the King edition and US$90,495 for the King Premier. All models come with a three-year, 36,000 mile limited warranty.
