The highly-speculated Rolls-Royce SUV has been confirmed for production. An official announcement was made in an open letter, signed by the company’s CEO and the Charmian, to all stakeholders in the project – employees, suppliers, potential, customers and media.
The luxury SUV will be nearly as long as the Phantom and have a very modern front-end styling, adds an Autocar UK report. The new SUV will not take away the flagship crown from the Phantom though. Giles Taylor, Design Director Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, says that the 4×4 will be positioned carefully in way that the Phantom remains the company’s flagship vehicle.
The SUV is yet to be given a name but is being developed under the code name of RR31. The company expects to garner new customers with the launch of its first SUV, just like the Wraith which has attracted 80% new customers.
The company will completely refresh its line-up between now and 2018 – with a new Ghost, new Phantom and the new SUV. The new SUV is likely to be introduced in 2017.
