August 25, 2015

Skoda Auto has announced that it has delivered 82,800 vehicles to customers worldwide this year, matching last year’s sales level. The company has witnessed significant increase in demand in Western as well as Central Europe and India.

The new generation Skoda Fabia and Superb have received an enthusiastic response in Western Europe, with the sales of the Fabia increasing by 54.9% and the Superb hatchback increasing by 102%. The total sales of the company in Western Europe were strong in July with deliveries increasing by 7.3% to 35,800 vehicles. Sales in Germany increased by 8.8 % to 13,000 vehicles making the country Skoda’s top car importer. Skoda also witnessed increased sales growth in several markets like Spain – 33%, Ireland – 49.8%, Switzerland – 26.9%, Italy – 25.9% and Sweden-27.4%.

Skoda managed to deliver 7,000 vehicles in Eastern Europe including Russia in July which is a decline of 32.7% compared to the July 2014 figure of 10,400 vehicles. The decline in sales has been a result of weak market conditions in Russia and Ukraine. In Russia, Skoda managed to shift 4,200 vehicles which is a decline of 40.8% compared to July 2014. However, the company saw double-digit growth of 19.9% and 44.1% last month in Romania and Bulgaria respectively.

Werner Eichhorn, Board Member for Sales and Marketing, Skoda Auto, said that despite the difficult market conditions in Russia and China, the company’s sales figures in July were high as the same period last year. He went on to add that Western and Central Europe has witnessed significant growth in sales which has compensated the declining trends in other regions.
