A beefed-up Skoda Rapid Spaceback has been spied completely undisguised, courtesy of autoforum.cz. It wasn’t known (until now) that the company planned such a variant of the Rapid. When launched in the market, it should carry the familiar ‘Scout’ designation and will be the Rapid’s third derivative.
The spy images reveal modifications similar to the Octavia Scout. Up front, changes appear to include blackened-headlamps, modified bumper with silver-coloured guards and larger fog lamps. Black full body plastic goes from the front to the rear bumper, which also features silver-coloured guards. The alloy wheels are painted black as well. Unlike the Octavia Scout though, the Rapid Scout’s test mule does not feature extended wheel arches.
The engine line-up offered on the Scout variant could be the same as the Spaceback variant. The Rapid Spaceback is offered with 1.2-litre MPI, 1.2-litre TSI, 1.4-litre TSI petrol engines and a 1.6-litre TDI diesel engine. It would also probably remain a front-wheel driven model only. It can be expected to debut at the 2015 International Motor Show in Frankfurt in September.
