Rendering – 2011 BMW 1-Series
The 2011 BMW 1-Series is being rigorously tested out in the open and BMW could even showcase the next generation 1-Series at the Paris Motor Show in October, 2010. Here we have another rendering of the 2011 BMW 1-Series.
The first generation BMW 1-Series which was launched in 2004 was an excellent car dynamically. It was the best drivers car in its category and the only rear wheel driven. The BMW 1-Series being the company’s entry level car, was highly favored by the enthusiasts as an affordable Bimmer.
But the 1-Series had lots of shortcomings which really left the new customers to the brand disappointed. Interior space, plastic quality and the refinement were terribly short of expectations. Now with the 2011 1-Series BMW has a chance to rectify all that.
The new 1-Series would be much bigger and wouldn’t have the sloping roofline of the previous gen ’1′. This would result in creating more cabin space. The new ’1′ would borrow styling cues from the 5GT and 5-Series. The split kidney grille would become bigger and would become more upright.
BMW is working with Peugeot-Citroen to develop small 4-cylinder engines to be used in the 1-Series and Mini. BMW hinted there wouldn’t be an M-version of the 2011 1-Series but Super-Sports version might come.

Renderings – Next generation BMW 1-series
BMW has begun testing the next generation 1-series out in the open. The 2011 1-series is inching closer to production day by day. Myriads of 2011 1-series’ spy shots are doing their rounds in the internet. Now we have a rendering of what the next generation 1-series could look like.
Being the smallest and most affordable, BMW, the 1-series has not been up to the mark and hasn’t really tasted success like its stablemates, the 3-, 5- and 7-series. Now BMW would be hoping to change all that with the next gen 1-series.
The exterior styling, interior space, plastic quality and refinement levels of the current 1-series fell miserably short of BMW standards and disappointed many Bimmer fans. BMW is developing the 2011 1-series keeping the shortcomings of the current ‘one’ in mind.
BMW is also eying for the American market, hence we can expect the 2011 BMW 1-series to grow up in size. There has also been speculation that the 2011 1-series could come with a two-door Shooting brake version. The new design theme of BMW would be abundant on the new ‘One’ starting with the upright grille and fascia.
The 2011 1-series would come with a whole new bunch of efficient engines. Small 4-cylinder engines jointly developed by BMW and Peugeot-Citroen for use in the Mini and the latter’s small cars might find its way under the hood of the 2011 1-series. BMW could also plonk in its acclaimed 6-cylinder motors for the top end 1-series. Though chances of an ‘M version’ of the 2011 ‘one’ are dim, there could be a ‘SuperSports’ version.
The 2011 BMW 1-series could also come with Efficient-Dynamics technologies like stop-start systems, regenerative brakes, solar panels and heat-recovery systems.
