Toyota Tacoma Back To The Future Concept face

Toyota creates modern interpretation of Marty McFly’s truck

October 22, 2015

Toyota has created a homage to Marty McFly’s 1985 Toyota SR5 pickup truck from the movie ‘Back To The Future’. The homage is based on the 2016 Toyota Tacoma – that went on sale in September – and can be seen by fans in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas.

The Back To The Future (BTTF) Concept has the same black exterior colour from the original, custom tailgate with the 1985-styled logo, custom mud flaps, D-4S badging on the rear pillar, front and rear tubular bumpers as well as a vintage head and tail lights designed to mimic the original.  Modern touches include KC HiLites LED driving lights with bright yellow KC covers, off-road suspension, Toyota Racing Development (TRD) wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich tires (the original was shod with Goodyear rubber) and custom light bars.

The Back To The Future (BTTF) Concept at this point in time is just a promotional vehicle and there are no plans for production. Though there are many movie buffs out there that would like to get their hands on this truck. It does have the appeal of the original and that in itself should be convincing enough for Toyota to put it into production, in limited numbers, of course.
