M-Sport is known for creating rally-spec Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus models in the UK. It is also the firm responsible for managing Ford’s WRC program and has now turned its attention to road cars, with its latest offering being the M-Sport Ford Fiesta.
The hot hatch has been given performance and exterior updates by M-Sport partners Permashine to make it stand out from the crowd. The body receives a gloss-black rear spoiler and body graphics that are inspired by the Ford Fiesta RS WRC. The wheels are OZ Superturismo LM 17-inch light alloy units finished in matt graphite.
The interior gets embroidered seats complete with M-Sport logo and steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather with Alcantara trim. M-Sport logos are found in several places inside the cabin like on the shift gate and the rev counter. The gear lever is adorned with a carbon-fibre insert with the exclusive nature of the hatch made known by the carbon-fibre build numbers on the tailgate.
Majority of the changes are reserved for beneath the skin. The 1.6-litre four cylinder EcoBoost turbo engine gets the Mountune MP215 upgrade helping it produce 215 hp (158 kW) and 320 Nm of peak torque at 3,000 rpm. All this power is put to the road through Ford’s IB6 6-speed gearbox and Quaife ATB limited slip differential.
Apart from the standard equipments, the company is also offering optional packs and upgrades for those who want to push the envelope even further. This is what M-Sport Managing Director, Malcolm Wilson OBE, had to say about the firm’s first road car project: “It’s a proper hot hatch with a Quaife differential in the gearbox as well as a host of other well thought out options and additions supplied by our valued trade partners. It looks fantastic and it really does go as well as it looks!”
