Volkswagen has introduced a new Match Edition for the seventh generation of the Golf hatchback. This edition starts at £19,840 (On the Road) and comes with specifications which are worth £1,100 when opted for separately at just £100.
The previous Golf Match Edition was loaded with standard features such as front and rear parking sensors, front fog lights, electrically-folding door mirrors with puddle lights and 16-inch Dover alloy wheels. The new version receives Discover Navigation system as standard, and can be operated by a 6.5-inch colour touchscreen which is used not only for navigation but also for CD and radio functions. The navigation system has preloaded navigation data which also features Car-Net guide and Inform online services that provide online traffic information, personal point of interest, news and weather updates as well as fuel and parking info.
Creature comforts are further enhanced by Bluetooth telephony, audio streaming, eight-speaker multimedia entertainment system and air conditioning. The 2016 Volkswagen Golf Match Edition also boasts of an impressive array of assistive systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist and City Emergency Braking, Driver Alert System, PreCrash preventive occupant protection, and dusk sensor (automatic driving lights).
And if this wasn’t impressive enough all Golf models come standard with seven airbags, ABS with ESC, XDS electronic differential lock and automatic post-collision braking system as well as Isofix preparation for two rear child seats.
The range of the 2016 Volkswagen Golf Match Edition starts with the three-door variant equipped with the three-cylinder, 1.0-litre turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 115 PS through a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG automatic giving a fuel efficiency figure of 65.7 mpg. The biggest and most powerful engine sits at the top of the range, it is the 2.0-litre inline four cylinder turbocharged diesel capable of 150 PS and can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DSG transmission. Combined fuel efficiency figures for both manual and automatic transmission is 68.9 mpg and 62.8 mpg respectively.
