Volvo has launched the sporty Volvo XC90 R-Design in the UK at £49,785. The R-Design trim level is available with the Drive-E D5 diesel, T6 petrol and T8 Twin Engine petrol-electric plug-in hybrid powertrains. The body has been made to look sportier with the addition of 20-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, silver-effect door mirrors, gloss black mesh front grille and tinted rear windows.
Stepping inside, one is greeted with the leather/nubuck sports seats, a 12.3-inch active TFT driver’s information display and perforated leather-trimmed steering wheel with gearshift paddles. This trim level also gets powered front passenger seat with memory function similar to the drivers, sports pedals, black headlining and updated interior lighting. The owner of the R-Design XC90 is given an exclusive R-Design leather-clad remote key fob.
Already standard features on the regular XC90 include a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Sensus Navigation, two-zone climate control with CleanZone air quality system, LED headlights, power-operated tailgate with handsfree opening, and the Volvo On Call mobile app.
R-Design trim level is sportier than the other trim levels and to this effect, it has been endowed with Drive Mode Settings and Adjustable Steering Force as standard. These settings allow the driver to choose different settings for the engine, transmission, steering and the optional air suspension.
Safety and driver assistance systems include City Safety which consists of pedestrian and cyclist detection as well as front collision warning with full auto brake, apart from driver alert control with lane departure warning. These are in addition to the front, side and full-length curtain airbags.
