Cadillac has announced pricing of the U.S.-spec 2016 Cadillac CT6 that was unveiled at the 2015 New York International Auto Show in April. The brand’s range-topping luxury sedan starts at US$53,495; the top of the range CT6 Platinum costs US$83,465. The production of the model commences in January 2016, with deliveries set to begin by March 2016. The company has started accepting pre-orders now.
Cadillac says that the CT6 brings dynamic performance, efficiency and agility previously unheard of in the large luxury car segment. This is due to its rigid and lightweight architecture and the availability of systems such as active-on-demand all-wheel drive, active rear steering and Magnetic Ride Control, which form part of the available Active Chassis System. More noteworthy features include Rear Camera Mirror, Enhanced Night Vision technology and the 34-speaker Bose Panaray audio system.
The 2016 Cadillac CT6 is offered with three engine options, all being gasoline ones. The base is a 2.0-liter four cylinder turbochaged unit that generates 272 hp and 295 lb.-ft. (400 Nm) of torque, and sends power to exclusively rear wheels. The second option is a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6 unit producing 335 hp and 284 lb.-ft. (385 Nm) of torque powering all wheels. The last and the most powerful option is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 capable of 400 hp and 400 lb.-ft. (543 Nm) of torque that also sends power to all four wheels. All three engines however, route power through an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
A plug-in hybrid variant will also follow. Maximum power and maximum torque figures of the plug-in hybrid powertrain reportedly would be 335 hp and 432 lb.-ft. (586 Nm) respectively. Further details are expected as its launch date draws closer. The 2016 Cadillac CT6 will be manufactured at the GM’s Hamtramck assembly plant in Detroit.
