Scion has launched the 2016 Scion FR-S Release Series 2.0 coupe in the US with a suggested starting price tag of US$29,510 (excluding taxes and handling charges). The Series 2.0 is a limited edition with a planned production run of just 1,000 units.
Starting with the exterior, the Series 2.0 gets a catchy Lunar Storm paintjob, 17-inch forged alloy wheels, HID headlamps with LED DRLs and an aero kit with front and rear spoilers.
The majority of the changes are reserved for the interior. It gets heated seats wrapped in Alcantara/leather and steering wheel covered in leather. The black theme of the cabin is interspersed with camel-colored accents that are seen on the seats, steering wheel, door armrest and upper door trim. The shift knob, parking brake lever, knee pads and center armrest are finished in black leather. Camel accent stitching is seen on the dash as well as on the release series badge. Features coming as standard are Smart key with push-button-start and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Power for the Scion FR-S Release 2.0 comes from the standard 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder Boxer engine that can be paired to either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox with paddle shifters and Dynamic Rev Management.
The manual model costs US$29,510 and if you want the automatic model, the cost goes up to US$30,610.
