Volkswagen has announced 2016 VW Beetle Denim for the U.S. market. The Beetle Denim pays homage to the Jeans Bug of the 1970s and will be limited to 2000 units.
The special edition 2016 VW Beetle Convertible will be offered in two exterior colors – Pure White and Stonewashed Blue which will be split equally among the produced units. The fabric roof of the drop top sports a dark blue color and is made of a textured fabric which looks like denim. The vintage look is perfectly conveyed by the 17-inch Heritage wheels.
The interior carries on with the denim theme with a light blue denim-color cloth for the seating surface that also bears white piping and dark blue accents in leatherette. The dashpad is given a light blue and silver hue while the seat pockets derive inspiration from jeans with red Beetle tabs.
The cabin gets a 5.0-inch touchscreen for Volkswagen’s new MIB II infotainment system that supports aux-in, SD card, USB, iPhone and iPod connectivity, Bluetooth and reverse camera display. The MIB II infotainment system has faster processing speeds and better graphics with higher resolution.
The 2016 VW Beetle Denim comes exclusively with 1.8-liter TSI turbocharged inline four-cylinder gasoline engine that makes 170 hp and 184 lb.-ft. (250 Nm) of torque. The turbocharged engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
