Audi has announced US pricing for the S8 Plus and RS7 performance models. These are the more powerful and sporty versions of the standard A8 and RS7 sedans.
Deliveries for both models are set to begin by December 2015 at a price of US$1,14,900 and US$1,29,000 for the S8 Plus and RS7 performance respectively.
The exterior of the S8 Plus gets several elements that distinguish it from the standard models. It gets a rear lip spoiler that is painted in body color with the side mirrors finished in silver. Then there are the wheels, which are 21-inch 5-double arm titanium units.
The engine is the same for both these performance sedans. Under the hood lurks the 4.0-liter TFSI V8 that produces 605 hp and 516 lb.-ft. (700 Nm) of torque and is mated to an 8-speed tiptronic gearbox. There is also an overboost function that temporarily increases the peak torque to 553 lb.-ft. (750 Nm) of torque. The top speed for the S8 Plus is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h) but can be increased to 190 mph (305 km/h) with the optional Dynamic package. The RS7 performance has a top whack of 190 mph (305 km/h) and a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of 3.6 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than that of the S8 Plus.
The body of the RS7 performance gets a redesigned bumper with rear diffuser insert, black tailpipes, carbon mirror housings, gloss black RS Singleframe grille and 21-inch cast aluminum wheels. The interior features RS sports seats with optional black Valcona leather and Alcantara as well as contrasting blue stitching and carbon twill blue inlays.
