Audi has announced that it has chosen Sirius XM as a partner to provide its customers with a premium suite of emergency services. This service will be available on Audi vehicles having the Audi connect Gen 2 system. The system will be first seen in the 2017 Audi Q7 that will be launched in early 2016 and will later also be seen in the 2017 Audi A4.
Sirius XM Connected Vehicle Services as a part of the SOS call function will provide Audi connect Emergency Response, which aims to provide a soothing and helpful human intervention in case of emergencies. Sirius XM is tasked with handling the situation in the vehicle and coordinating the 911 response when an airbag deployment is detected. Additionally, emergency assistance can also be requested manually in case of an injury or some other casualty.
Sirius XM has been selected because of its ‘two-agent’ model. In this model, one agent is engaged with caller from the vehicle while another agent handles the responsibility of sending medical aid and coordinating efforts on the ground. Owners of supported vehicles can also call Sirius XM in case of vehicle theft, which in turn will keep track of the vehicle in an effort to locate it as quickly as possible.
Audi connect suite also encompasses services such as roadside assistance, service reminders, and remote management of vehicles through an app on the customer’s smartphone.
