Acura has announced the pricing of the 2016 Acura TLX for the U.S. market and stated that the updated sedan will go on sale today. The 2016 TLX with the 8-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) has been priced at US$31,695 which corresponds to an increase of US$250 over the previous model, while the prices of the 9-speed automatic models have remained unchanged.
Jon Ikeda, Vice President and General Manager, Acura, stated that the success of TLX in its initial year in the market has been instrumental in Acura’s resurgence as a luxury sedan manufacturer. He went on to add the unique combination of proportion, performance and prestige has been a hallmark of all Acura vehicles.
The Acura TLX has been designed to appeal to a broader section of customers, with its sporty character enhanced by the dynamic character lines, sculpted fender arches and taut body surfaces. Up front, it sports the signature Jewel Eye LED headlamps that are designed to provide superior illumination of the road. It also gets LED-accented side mirrors, LED license plate illumination and LED taillamps.
The company informs that the TLX has been developed with a Red Carpet Athlete theme, designed to deliver athleticism of a sports-sedan along with incorporation of a premium (red-carpet) luxury feel. It also features the incorporation of the latest generations of Acura precision-handling technologies including, Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS), Agile Handling Assist (AHA) and the next-generation Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD).
The 2016 Acura TLX models are powered by two direct-injected i-VTEC engines. The 2.4-liter engine produces 206 hp and 182 lb.-ft. (247 Nm) of torque, and is mated to an 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (8DCT) with torque converter. The 3.5-liter V6 produces 290 hp and 267 lb.-ft. (362 Nm) of torque, and is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission with Sequential SportShift.
Noteworthy features on the 2016 Acura TLX include 7-inch On Demand Multi-Use Display (ODMD) touch screen, AcuraLink cloud based connectivity, 10-speaker, 490-watt Acura/ELS Studio Premium Audio System, Siri Eyes Free technology, Acura Navigation System with 3D view, Smart Entry/Push Button Start keyless access system among others.
Driver assistance and safety systems include Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Acura Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), blind spot information (BSI), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Rear Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS) and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS).
