Chevrolet has taken the wraps off the facelifted 2016 Chevrolet SS for the U.S. market. The Chevrolet SS now features a more aggressive front facia with new LED signature lighting and the addition of functional hood vents for optimum cooling of the engine. Aerodynamics have been the focus of the facelift with the sedan now featuring vertical ducts at the outer edges to improve the air flow over the front wheel openings.
The front of the Chevrolet SS sports liberal use of chrome embellishments along with a muscular hood with power bulges. The front wings also feature chromed slit openings while the B-pillars feature a blacked out look. The styling is further enhanced by a new design 19-inch cast aluminium alloy wheels finished in a Grey paint scheme.
The 2016 Chevrolet SS is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine that churns out 415 hp (310 kW) and 415 lb.-ft. (563 Nm) of torque. The engine can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel.
The engine also features a new dual mode exhaust system that offers quieter performance at low engine speeds and offers an enhanced engine note at higher engine revs. Todd Christensen, Chevrolet Performance Car marketing manager, stated that the 2016 SS exterior design changes more fully express the true driving character of the sedan while further enhancing the car’s overall performance.
