USA: Jaguar announces its 2016 line-up

Jaguar has announced its line-up for U.S. market, and it includes the its new entry-level XE sedan and the all-new XF. The XF has now entered second generation, while the flagship XJ has got a facelift. The F-Type receives new powertrain and driveline options. As a part of the MY2016 upgrade, the entire Jaguar range benefits from Jaguar EliteCare warranty programme.

Jaguar is aiming to step into the next generation with the introduction of three new models, of which two will be all-new to the North American Market. The company will launch the new XE into the North American market in spring of 2016 as a 2017 model. The new XE will sit alongside the XF and the XJ to complete the brands modern sedan line-up.

The XE model line-up will include four trim levels, XE, XE Premium, XE Prestige and XE R-Sport and will be available with four-cylinder and V6 engine options. The efficient Ingenium 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine in the 20d produces 180 hp and will be available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

The 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four GTDI engine delivers all round performance in the 25t producing 240 hp and will be available in rear-wheel drive. Topping the range, the XE 35t with a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine produces 340 hp and is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

The XE’s instrument cluster and the steering wheel is inspired by the F-Type to give a feeling of driving a sports car. The XE also features the Jaguar InControl Touch infotainment system as standard along with a powerful Meridian surround stereo system.

The Jaguar F-Pace will make its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (2015 IAA) as Jaguar’s first ever production crossover. It will go on sale in U.S. and Canada next year for MY2017.

The 2016 Jaguar XF is 132 lbs (60 kg) to 265lbs (120 kg) lighter than outgoing 2015 rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive models respectively. The all-new XF will sport features like full-LED headlamps, Autonomous Emergency Braking, laser Heads-Up Display, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue-Assist, Intelligent Speed Limiter, Semi-Automated Parking and Lane Keeping Assist amongst others.

The all-new XF also features the Jaguar InControl Touch infotainment system with an 8-inch touch-screen with an improved user interface. Additionally, customers can also opt for the 10.2-inch InControl Touch Pro infotainment system. Both the systems feature a crisp interface with optimised graphics.

It will be available with a choice of two supercharged V6 engines, producing 340 hp and 380 hp respectively, and will be offered in rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. The AWD models feature Intelligent Driveline Dynamics which controls the amount of torque distributed between the front and rear axles for optimal traction and enhanced performance.

The 2016 Jaguar XJ gets subtle design upgrades with the ‘double J’ daytime light design along with fully adaptive LED headlamps. The front facia now sports a more upright design with a new pattern for the mesh along with tweaked bumpers. The 2016 XJ range a sportier R-Sport trim also.

The interior of the 2016 XJL Portfolio and XJL Supercharged models gains new quilted seats with a diamond sewn pattern on the seat centre and cushion. All 2016 XJ models get front and rear heated and ventilated seats as standard.

Jaguar InControl Touch Pro Infotainment system with a clean and contemporary user interface is standard on both XJ and XJL. Also standard, is a Meridian 825 watt 17-speaker surround system as standard. The flagship saloon will feature the full suite of Jaguar InControl connected features like Jaguar InControl Remote & Protect, InControl WiFi and Jaguar InControl Apps.

It also adds driver assistance features like All Surface Progress Control (ASPC), which essentially is a low speed cruise control, as well as Reverse Traffic Detection, Closing Vehicle Sensing, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, 360 Park Distance Control, Surround Camera and Park Assist.

Since the model’s introduction in 2014, the Jaguar F-TYPE range has expanded from 3 to 6 models in one model year. Jaguar aims to continue this trend by doubling the number of F-TYPE models to 12 in the 2016 model year.

The F-TYPE rear-wheel drive V6 models will now be available with a 6-speed manual gearbox to broaden appeal. The new transmission gets a short-throw pattern along with closely-spaced gear ratios and pedals optimised for heel-and-toe shifting.

The F-TYPE S Coupe and Convertible models gain Jaguar Instinctive All Wheel Drive with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics as an option while the F-TYPE R Coupe and Convertible will feature it as standard. The AWD system operates on a torque-on-demand principle, sending 100% of the torque to the rear wheels during normal driving, while the system can send up to 50% of the torque to the front axle if it detects the rear wheels loosing traction.

The 2016 F-TYPE now sports the 770 watt Meridian surround sound audio system, Jaguar Smart Key Keyless entry, SiriusXM Satellite Radio & HD Radio and 14-way power-adjustable seats as standard fitment. The Coupe models add a panoramic glass roof, which is designed to make the cabin airy, while the R Coupe models receive a power-assisted rear hatch as part of standard fitment. The F-TYPE S models will sport a flat-bottomed racing-style steering wheel along with driver-selectable Switchable Active Exhaust and Configurable Dynamic Mode as standard.
