Nissan has announced its MY2016 line-up of vehicles for the U.S market. The 2016 models will add Nissan’s advanced safety and connectivity systems across trim levels.
Safety systems like Driver Attention Alert (DAA), Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW) and Moving Object Detection (MOD) along with Around View Monitor (AVM) will be offered on the 2016 models. Nissan will also update infotainment systems to offer features like NissanConnect Services telematics and NissanConnect along with Mobile Apps and Navigation.
The 2016 Nissan model line-up will feature the introduction of two all-new models- The eighth-generation 2016 Nissan Maxima and the 2016 Nissan TITAN XD pick-up powered by a Cummins diesel engine. The 2016 Maxima has been launched in June and will be followed by the TITAN XD later this year.
The 2016 Nissan Maxima features a new performance-oriented Xtronic transmission with a wider ratio range, D-step shift logic, Adaptive Shift Control including G-sensor and Sport mode. The SR trim gets a tuned suspension featuring monotube rear dampers and a larger front stabilizer bar. It also sports a Performance Chassis Damper, similar to the damper used in the 370Z NISMO.
Infotainment options on the 2016 Maxima include a Bose premium audio system with 11 speakers an 8-inch capacitive display unit with NissanConnect, navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio and smartphone integration. The interiors get premium Ascot leather seats with a diamond-quilted pattern. Safety features include Driver Attention Alert (DAA) system, Forward Emergency Braking (FEB), Blind Sport Warning (BSW), Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) among others.
The new Nissan Titan XD Crew Cab will be powered by a 5.0 litre turbo diesel V8 Cummins engine, with a maximum towing capability of more than 12,000 pounds. It will include features like Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, Tow/Haul Mode with Downhill Speed Control and a Trailer Light Check system.
Driver assistance systems like RearView Monitor with Trailer Guides will be offered along with the Around View Monitor (AVM) that provides a “bird’s eye” view of the surroundings from cameras positioned in the front, sides and rear of the vehicle. The system also includes Moving Object Detection (MOD). The Crew Cab will be the first of three cab configurations which will be offered in the Titan line-up.
The Japanese automaker has also announced that its top-selling models – the Nissan Altima and the Nissan Sentra sedans will be refreshed for MY2016. The details of the changes will be announced shortly.
The 2016 Nissan Rogue will feature Nissan’s Forward Emergency Braking (FEB), which employs radar technology to determine the vehicle’s speed and distance from the vehicle ahead. The company informs that it will add this technology to more models before the end of this year.
The 2016 Nissan Juke and Rogue will get the addition of Siri Eyes Free, allowing customers to pair the iPhone to the infotainment system to activate Siri function through voice commands. The Juke also adds two new Personal Package options, Black and Yellow Stinger Editions to the SV grade.
The 2016 Nissan 370Z Coupe and the 370Z Nismo will add a new Bose audio system equipped with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Active Sound Enhancement (ASE). The ASE enhances the natural sound produced by the engine enhancing driving experience. A new Deep Blue Pearl paint scheme has been introduced while the Midnight Blue exterior color option has been discontinued.
The 2016 Nissan Versa Note SV hatchback will now get features offered in the previous SV Convenience Package as standard equipment. The features include a 5-inch colour display, NissanConnect with Mobile Apps, hands-free Text Messaging Assistant, Bluetooth audio streaming. SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Divide-N-Hide Adjustable Floor and a RearView Monitor will also be offered.
