Following last week’s teasers, the VW Golf GTI Clubsport concept has been revealed in a set of images and will be unveiled in metal tomorrow at Lake Worthersee in Austria. The GTI Clubsport model features a number of design modifications including a new front bumper, new side sills, new roof-mounted spoiler and a specially developed rear diffuser. These exterior modifications make the GTI Clubsport model more aerodynamic and a better performer than the standard GTI model.
The hot hatch sports the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine from the Golf GTI. However, the engine has been uprated by 30 PS (30 hp) to produce 265 hp (261 hp). There’s also a boost function which increases the performance temporarily by around 10%. The boost function and significantly improved levels of downforce take the Golf GTI Clubsport’s driving dynamics to a motorsport level.
The VW Golf GTI Clubsport will go on sale in early 2016, as a part of the company’s celebration of its 40th anniversary. The model making its world premiere at Lake Worthersee will be a near-production concept car.
