Volkswagen has launched the Golf R Wolfsburg Edition in Australia. This also marks the entry of the Golf R Wagon in the country. The high performance estate will be available exclusively in the Wolfsburg Edition specification.
Wolfsburg, the home of the company’s global headquarters, is also the place where the very first Beetle was produced. The ‘Wolf and Castle’ emblem on the Golf R Wolfsburg Edition models pays homage to the company’s rich history associated with Wolfsburg.
The limited edition models don’t get any changes in terms of engine specifications. Both hatchback and wagon are powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that churns out 276 hp (206 kW) and 380 Nm of torque, and this turbocharged four-cylinder unit comes mated to a 6-speed DSG transmission. The power is channeled to all four wheels, thanks to the 4Motion all-wheel drive system.
The new range-topping Golf R hatch and the Golf R Wagon Wolfsburg Edition models get the following noteworthy features:
- Exclusive exterior body paint option – Oryx White Pearl
- Black Pretoria 19-inch alloy wheels
- Black roof rails (only on wagon version)
- Black ORVM covers
- Wolfsburg crest badge
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Front Assist with City Emergency Brake
- Blind Spot Monitor with rear traffic alert
- Carbon Nappa leather
- Individually heated front seats
The VW Golf R Wolfsburg Edition hatchback and wagon are priced at AU$56,990 and AU$58,990 respectively. Electrically-operated panoramic glass sunroof can be added optionally for AU$1,850.
