VW Passat is Europe’s greenest vehicle

VW Passat Natural Gas

Europe’s most environmentally friendly vehicle is not a Toyota Prius but a Volkswagen Passat powered by natural gas, according to the FIA-backed Eco Test.

The Passat earned 92 out of a maximum 100 points. The only car that comes close is the Toyota Prius which employs costly hybrid technology.

The Eco Test not only evaluates CO2 emissions but also harmful pollutants such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides which are products of combustion emerging from the tail pipe of any vehicle.

The eco-friendly Passat powered by VW’s 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine burned fuel cleanly and gave out little or no harmful emissions.
